dockyard is a film production company in Vienna and a brand of ICS Media GmbH. We produce commercials, online spots, image films, product videos and music videos, and with our studio dynam!c we cover design and animation. Post-production and production service for shoots across Europe are part of the offer, from the first concept to the final master.

Our office is at Hasnerstraße 123 in 1160 Vienna, with a second office of ICS Media GmbH in Gmunden, Upper Austria, and a team in Bucharest. Through a network of long-standing partners we produce anywhere in Europe and take care of scouting, crew and logistics on location.

We work for brands and for advertising agencies. Recent productions include spots for Fisker, Hofer, Vienna Tourist Board, BWT, Toppik, McArthurGlen, Maybelline, Plachutta and the Austrian National Bank, as well as music videos. The full list of projects with credits is in our portfolio.

dockyard is a brand of ICS Media GmbH, an agency based in Gmunden and Vienna since 1992. Within ICS, dockyard covers live-action film production, and our sister brand VAIN covers AI-assisted film production. Because both belong to the same company, one project can combine a real shoot with AI-generated scenes. More at ics-media.at and vain.at.

Depending on the project we take over the whole chain or single parts of it: concept and script, casting, location scouting, shoot, editing, colour grading, sound design and delivery in all formats the media plan needs.

Yes. Our design and animation team dynam!c produces 2D animation and motion graphics, explainer videos, 3D animation, CGI and VFX, stop motion, illustration and brand design. Animation can stand on its own or be combined with live action, for example for product visualisations or packshots in a commercial.

Yes. For agencies and production companies from abroad we organise shoots in Austria and across Europe: location scouting, local crew, equipment, casting and on-set production. Being based in Vienna, we work at lower rates than London, Paris or Berlin while keeping the same technical standards.

Yes, agency partnerships are a large part of our work. We coordinate closely with the agency from the first idea to delivery and support pitches with mood films, mood frames and early calculations, so that concept, execution and budget hold up in front of the client.

We work with experienced film crews and current camera, lighting and grip equipment. Special setups such as motion control with the MRMC Bolt, virtual production and the U-Crane are available for shoots that need them. Crew and gear are put together for each project, in Austria or with our partners abroad.

Yes. Editing, colour grading, sound design, music, CGI and VFX are done in-house or with long-standing partners, coordinated by our post-production supervisor. You get one contact for the whole post-production and final masters in the formats and aspect ratios your media plan needs.

Yes, where it helps the project: for AI mood films, previews and animation, and in post-production. We use AI as a tool alongside human creative work and handle it responsibly, including the question of rights to generated content. Whether and how AI is used is agreed with you for each production.

Yes. On set we reduce our footprint with renewable energy where available, energy-efficient lighting, digital scripts, less waste, sustainable catering and considered transport. If your brand has specific sustainability requirements for a production, we plan them in from the start.

Send us a short brief via the contact form or to office@dockyard.at: what the film should achieve, target audience, channels and formats, timing and, if you already have one, a budget frame. We come back with questions or a first concept and a cost estimate that shows shoot days, crew, locations and post-production.

That depends on concept, number of shoot days, crew size, locations, cast, animation and post-production, and on the usage rights you need. Because we produce from Austria, our rates are below those of London, Paris or Berlin. After your brief you get a detailed cost estimate so you can see where the budget goes.

Every production has three phases: pre-production (concept, script, casting, locations, schedule), the shoot or animation, and post-production (editing, grading, sound, delivery). You approve each step. Unless agreed otherwise, two revision rounds per post-production step are included, as set out in our terms and conditions.

The usage rights you acquire are defined in the offer by type of use, media, territory and duration, for example online only in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, or TV and cinema internationally. Buy-outs and extensions can be agreed at any time. The details are in section 9 of our terms and conditions.
